LAVENDER ON THE FARM
About Lavender
Lavender offers a range of benefits. Initially invigorating, it transitions to calming and soothing effects over time. Lavender oil is effective in alleviating stress and nervous tension. Additionally, it is highly beneficial for treating various skin conditions such as sores, burns, insect bites, eczema, acne, and psoriasis. As well as using lavender for culinary.
Our lavender is two years old. In addition to the products I make on our farm, our future goal is to produce lavender essential oils and syrups.
So far we have three types of lavender on our farm.
Grosso-Lavandula x intermedia
Long-blooming and highly fragrant, 'Grosso' Lavender is famed throughout the world as the one most often grown for use in perfume making. It's also very showy, with large and spiky dark purple blooms set against silver foliage. Blooms form on purple bracts (as opposed to the more common green) making for a richly colorful appearance in the garden and when dried for crafts. 24-36” tall
HidcoteLavandula angustifoliais a premier English lavender variety widely celebrated for its rich, deep purple-blue flowers, sweet fruity fragrance and low camphor content. Great for culinary use. Grows around 18-24” tall
We will be offering lavender syrups in the future
Munstead-Lavandula angustifolia
Another favorite of mine is Munstead lavender is a compact English lavender variety prized for its high essential oil content, sweet fragrance, and use in the garden and kitchen. It is a shorter lavender than Grosso and grows around 18” high
